HISTORY
Erected by Octavia Hill in 1887, Redcross Hall (now known as Bishops Hall) was officially opened by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1888. Designed by Elijah Hoole, with interior decorations by Walter Crane, it was originally created as a community theatre for people living in the area. The hall, Redcross Cottages and Red Cross Garden remain today a significant reminder of the work of Octavia Hill in the Southwark area. The Hall was to stage many popular productions, Gilbert and Sullivans Musical's were a firm favourite the men and women entering by different doors from the garden.
DESCRIPTION
The property is currently arranged as the main hall plus mezzanine areas to the front and rear, together with a small first floor also at the front with w.c.s, kitchen and shower.
